Kelsie and Mikko’s Gideon Owen Wine Company wedding was a romantic, whimsical, and deeply personal celebration along the shores of Lake Erie.
As a wedding stationer in Cleveland, I had the privilege of helping bring their vision to life with carefully crafted paper details to tell the story of their day. Kelsie and Mikko’s celebration also happened to be the last wedding I coordinated!
This wedding was a joyful celebration of international love, summer beauty, and heartfelt design. I absolutely love Gideon Owen Wine Company, so I was thrilled to get to work with their onsite team.
Garden-Inspired Getting Ready Moments
The wedding day unfolded on a sunny summer afternoon with a dreamy garden party vibe. From the start, Kelsie knew she wanted something romantic, feminine, and whimsical — and every detail reflected that vision.
Kelsie wore a flowing white gown with delicate floral embellishments, while her groom opted for a timeless black tuxedo. Bridesmaids wore dresses in soft shades of pink, adding to the light, airy palette. In true garden party fashion, Kelsie and her bridesmaids carried parasols that added tons of charm to the celebration!
Gideon Owen Wine Company Wedding Ceremony
Kelsie and Mikko tied the knot in a romantic outdoor ceremony under a floral arch that was absolutely bursting with soft pastel blooms.
Inspired by Finnish summer skies — where the sunset lingers in shades of blush pink, lilac, and powder blue — the color palette set the tone for both decor and paper details. Since Kelsie and Mikko first met while studying abroad in Hong Kong and later lived in Finland for six years, they wanted their international love story to be felt throughout the day.
Portraits, Paper Details & Sentimental Touches
One of the most meaningful touches from Kelsie and Mikko’s wedding was the custom seating chart. Each table was assigned a destination significant to the couple’s relationship, with every guest receiving a printed postcard explaining their connection to that place.
I loved helping Kelsie bring this idea to life. I designed and printed the envelopes, postcards, and name cards — each tied together with soft ribbon and wax seals in the couple’s wedding colors to also signify meal choices.
The goal was to blend beauty and function, and seeing it all come together felt incredibly rewarding.
Gideon Owen Wine Company Wedding Reception
The party continued with a reception marked by colorful florals, dueling pianos, and a lively evening of dinner and dancing. Oh, and their floral watercolor cake was just as beautiful as it was delicious!
Guests enjoyed a full evening of heartfelt toasts, high-energy dancing, and personal touches that made everyone feel part of Kelsie and Mikko’s journey.
One of the most emotional moments of the day came just before guests arrived, when Kelsie saw the fully decorated venue for the first time. After months of thoughtful planning, seeing everything come together was an overwhelming moment of pride and gratitude.
Final Reflections
This wedding was extra special to me — it was my last coordination client before fully transitioning into stationery design. Being involved from both sides gave me a unique perspective and deep connection to the day.
Here’s what Kelsie and Mikko later shared with me:
“I cannot speak highly enough about my experience working with Kate. She absolutely nailed my vision and was happy to take on more stationery projects as the need for different items came up. She also was incredibly supportive and sweet to work with, making me feel at ease throughout the planning process!”
Cheers to the happy couple!
